A big increase in Bleach damage to carpets

Disinfectant Bleach damage carpet

There’s a lot of disinfecting going on at the moment and probably will be for some time to come.

This is obviously because commercial business and offices want to get back to business as quickly as possible and need to carry out deep cleaning and disinfecting procedures to do so.

However, as a result, we have recently seen a big increase in Bleach damage to carpets from good intentioned people spraying or fogging disinfectant/bleach products and unknowingly getting drops and splashes of bleach on the carpet.

This can be a very expensive mistake

The problem is, bleach will take time removing the colour from the carpet, so it will probably the following day when the colour damage is discovered.

Unfortunately, this can be a very expensive mistake! The costs of replacement can run into the tens of thousands of £’s, along with the extra upheaval and lost days.

It may be possible to colour repair the spots or re-dye the carpets. However, this would need to be tested and assessed.

As they say, prevention is always better than cure. So, you’re disinfecting, cleaning or bleaching in your premises, office or home, always protect the carpet and any soft furnishings first.

If not, be prepared to Google search a carpet dyeing services company…
